Fresh Awards – Greengrocer Awards

ABOUT

The Greengrocer Awards aim to encourage, recognise and reward excellence in fresh produce retailing.  Award recipients are recognised as the elite of their industry, earning a place amongst a distinguished group by having their achievements highlighted at both the community and industry levels.

By participating in the awards and accompanying mystery shopper program, greengrocers have the opportunity to gain invaluable insights to help them better understand their customers and add value to their businesses. Sydney Markets will arrange for accredited mystery shoppers to conduct three rounds of mystery shopping throughout the year to all registered businesses. Each round will be undertaken by a different shopper to give the business owner/management different consumer perspectives.

The mystery shoppers will complete a comprehensive questionnaire across five key criteria covering all aspects of:

  • Store appearance
  • Customer service
  • Produce quality, range and freshness
  • Product knowledge and culinary execution
  • Merchandising and branding

A criteria element of the program is that all participating businesses are provided with a copy of each mystery shopper's report, which includes the shopper's feedback, comments and observations.


GREENGROCER AWARD CATEGORIES

The 2017 Fresh Awards recognise greengrocers across a range of categories. The yearly mystery shopping results will contribute to 75% of a business’ score. The remaining 25% will be based on the scores achieved from an industry evaluation.

  • GREENGROCER OF THE YEARthe ultimate award for the highest achievement will be presented to the fresh fruit and vegetable retailer finalist that achieves the highest scores across all mystery shopping and industry criteria.
  • Best Small Business – recognises a small* business that has achieved the highest score across all mystery shopping criteria throughout the judging period.
    Four finalists will be announced.
  • Best Medium Businessrecognises a medium* business that has achieved the highest score across all mystery shopping criteria throughout the judging period.
    Four finalists will be announced.
  • Best Large Business – recognises a large* business that has achieved the highest score across all mystery shopping criteria throughout the judging period.
    Four finalists will be announced.
  • Service Excellence – recognises a business for its achievement in customer service. This award will be presented to the business that achieves the highest score in customer service as measured through the mystery shopping results and an additional industry evaluation.   
    Four finalists will be announced.
  • Retail Presentationrecognises a business for its achievement in store presentation and appearance. This award will be presented to the business that achieves the highest score in retail presentation as measured through the mystery shopping results and an additional industry evaluation.
    Four finalists will be announced.
  • Knowledge in Action– recognises a business for being proactive in educating its customers about fresh produce in a clear and enthusiastic manner. This award will be presented to the business that achieves the highest score in product knowledge as measured through the mystery shopping results and an additional industry evaluation. Four finalists will be announced.
