Fresh Awards – Greengrocer Awards
ABOUT
The 2024 Fresh Awards will recognise NSW and ACT greengrocers across a range of categories.
The process is as follows:
- Previous registrations roll-over to this year. If you’re new to the program or require a change to your existing registration details, please complete this form
- All applicants will be mystery shopped 3 times from November 2023 – April 2024 without prior notice
- Semi-finalists are mystery shopped on one more occasion to help determine the finalists
- Finalists will be announced in May, 2024
Applicants will be judged on:
- Store appearance
- Customer service
- Produce quality, range and freshness
- Product knowledge and culinary execution
- Merchandising and branding
- Digital presence and innovation
A criteria element of the program is that all participating businesses are provided with a copy of each mystery shopper's report, which includes the shopper's feedback, comments and observations.
GREENGROCER AWARD CATEGORIES
The 2024 Fresh Awards will recognise greengrocers across a range of categories.
- GREENGROCER OF THE YEAR – the ultimate award for the highest achievement will be presented to the fresh fruit and vegetable retailer finalist that achieves the highest scores across their application form and mystery shopping.
- Best Small Business – recognises a small* business that has achieved the highest score across their application form and mystery shopping criteria throughout the judging period.

- Best Medium Business – recognises a medium* business that has achieved the highest score across their application form and mystery shopping criteria throughout the judging period.
Four finalists will be announced.
- Best Large Business – recognises a large* business that has achieved the highest score across their application form and mystery shopping criteria throughout the judging period.
Four finalists will be announced.
- Service Excellence - recognises a business for its achievement in customer service. This award will be presented to the business that achieves the highest score in customer service as measured through the application form and all mystery shopping results.
Four finalists will be announced.
- Retail Presentation - recognises a business for its achievement in store presentation and appearance. This award will be presented to the business that achieves the highest score in retail presentation as measured through the application form and all mystery shopping results.
Four finalists will be announced.
- Knowledge in Action - recognises a business for being proactive in educating its customers about fresh produce in a clear and enthusiastic manner. This award will be presented to the business that achieves the highest score in product knowledge as measured through the application form and all mystery shopping results.

KEY DATES
- Finalists will be announced May, 2024.
- Winners will be announced at the 2024 Fresh Awards on Friday 12th July, 2024.
